Permanent back-up:

Ideally, everyone should have a member of the family or friendly neighbour who can take over when you go away. But, if he or she falls ill or is called away for whatever reason, what then? Your Guardian is backed up by 350 other Guardians and a Management team committed to making sure your property and pets are never left without proper care.

 

Insurance:

We carry Professional Indemnity insurance plus both Public and Employers Liability Insurance with a cover limit of £1,000,000. Full details are available on request.

Some providers of house sitters act as a placing agency for the self-employed and thus avoid the responsibilities of being an employer. We are 100% responsible for the actions of our employees. Our clients find this a very comforting feature of our service.

Our Employees?

They come from all walks of life, but principally from the professions and the services, both civil and military. Because of the requirements of house sitting, they have retired from their professional employment. All are animal lovers.

 

Our employee selection process:

Careful assessing and vetting of applicants is absolutely key to the success of The Home Service, and we believe we have the most comprehensive system in the industry. It falls into 4 parts:

  1. The initial 4-page Application Form on which we make our first assessment.
  2. We search public databases for evidence of social and financial stability.
  3. We send a questionnaire to 3 referees and make a further judgement when reviewing their responses.
  4. If the applicant reaches this stage, one of our Management team interviews them in their own home using a carefully structured interview routine. Seeing them in their own environment enables us to assess their standards of cleanliness and ability to look after plants and gardens in a way no office interview could. By now we are able to assess their reliability, common sense, honesty and diligence as well as their discretion and love of animals. If at this stage we are not confident in their ability to take on the job as Guardians, we will not offer them a position with The Home Service.
 

The Home Service Briefing System:

It is important to us that your house, pets and garden are looked after according to your specific instructions. We have an initial outline brief on the booking form. Having made the booking, we ask you to complete a much more in-depth form, a copy of which is held at Head Office. Before you go away, we get the Guardians to come and see you for a pre-assignment visit, when any points can be clarified. We do it YOUR way!

 

The Home Service Rules:

Every Guardian signs up to a set of Rules which govern their hours and activities and protect your privacy. They bring their own food, towels, bed linen and ask only for a warm, comfortable, clean environment such as they enjoy in their own home.

The Home Service Tariff:

Our basic daily rate is £32.75 but tariffs vary according to how many animals you have and their requirements, so we prefer to give you an accurate quotation. We can usually do this over the telephone, so please call us on 01394 450865 or 08451 303100.
